I am 40 years old and a single mother of 4 kids. I got married when I was young to a soldier in a refugee camp in Congo. We were separated when I came back to Rwanda. I got married for the second time but it didn’t work out so I went back to live with my parents . They didn’t want me to live in their house but they allowed me to build a shelter on their plot. I was obliged to put my small child in an orphanage because it was not safe for him to live in a tent. The water would get inside the shelter every time it rained. In 2011, the sector built a house for me but it was destroyed by heavy rains.Things started to get better when I got a job here. I learnt the process of wool making and I became good at spinning. I think it was easy for me because I was trained as a tailor before the Genocide. My life has changed, I am born again, I built a new house, and I even have people cultivating for me on my land. I want my children to get an education so they can have a better life.
